The Kung Fu Girl is Back! It’s hard to believe a wine this good could cost so little!

2008_kungfu_girlWho drinks Riesling in the winter? Anyone chasing a little sun and summer fruit. Anyone serving Asian food or other spicy cuisine. Or brined and pickled foods — sauerkraut or preserved fish like pickled herring or gravlax. These wines play in the borderland between sweet and acid. They go well with food which is naturally delicate or bland — like sushi, tofu or smoked salmon –as well as food with aromatic or fermented tastes — black bean sauce, ginger and garlic, and hot peppers.

Kung Fu Girl is a charming example. She is light, quick on her feet, tart and delicate. The color is clear as water. The nose is cheerfully floral, and there is the lightest sting — a little martial arts kick of acid — on the tongue. The taste is mainstream Riesling: green apple, lightly sweetened.

Kung Fu Girl is here at the shop now, like right now, but you will want to be fast before she is gone and you have to wait another year.
