Our favorite french wine junkie Lisa Strausser set this bottle down in front of me and said “you should buy a ton of this wine, it’s really, really good and it’s really cheap”. I was skeptical. But Lisa loves terroir – if a bottle of wine dosen’t have an umbilical attachment to its home vineyard, she dosen’t want anything to do with it. And she’s never steered me wrong. So I gave the whine a whirl. And it ROCKS! Wine geeks are prone to all kinds of hyperbole, right? Well, this ain’t one of those times. This wine would be a bargain at twice the price. But at $10.99/bottle it qualifies as an über-deal.

The 2009 Eric Chevalier Vin du Pays Chardonnay sports a clean, citrus and mineral nose. The mouth is smack in the center of the medium-bodied camp. The wine’s going to blast you with beautiful lemon, lime, and cement aromatics, a nice brushing of green apple on the finish and super-juicy acidity throughout. Got company? Pour them big, fat glasses of this wine and you’ll be an instant wine hero.

We bought a pretty big pile of Chevalier’s Chardonnay. It has only been out on the floor for a couple of days, but it is already flying out the door. Not a surprise, given how bloody excellent this wine is. At this price, you’ll want to load up. And don’t forget, if you buy a case we’re going to knock another 10% off our already-silly pricing.

Making Great Wine Easy – Our Newest 6-Pack Sampler

Putting together a good six-pack sampler is easy peasy. Walk around the shop, find three bottles of wine that make us happy when we drink them, and viola! You get a big old box of fun, Dedalus style. Having mountains of well-priced wine all over the shop defiantly helps the process. And maybe making the whole thing a bit more exciting by passing along our case discount on the six-pack adds a little extra something to the deal, too.

This time we’re rolling with the all-red sampler. And we’re covering all your bases. You’ll get a couple of bottles of Pierre Guillmot’s svelte, earthy Pinot Noir for those days when you just want a little more depth from your wine. You’re also getting two bottles of Donna Laura Sangiovese – a little Tuscan wonder, laced with red fruit aromatics, perfect at the dinner table or in the backyard on a warm evening. Last, but in no way could it be considered the least of this line-up… you’ll get two bottles of the massive, crowd-pleasing, zinfantastic old vine Zinfandel from Zin 91. Be careful handling that last one. It’s so massive and delicious that I don’t know if the bottle will hold it for long.

The sampler price is $78 for six bottles!

In this sampler you’ll get 2 bottles each of:

Pierre Guillemot Bourgogne, 2006 — $18.50

Zin 91, Old Vine Zinfandel, California, 2006 – $15.00/bottle

Donna Laura Sangiovese, ‘Ali’, Tuscany, 2007 – $9.75/bottle

Give us a ring, send us an e-mail, or just drop on by. We’ll have your six-pack waiting for you.

In the spirit of Jefferson’s America, we’ve decided to put together a six-pack of wines to carry us through this weekend of celebration and into a summer of all-out sloppy eat-and-drink happiness. You’ll get 6 bottles of great party wine for just $75!

This weekend you’ll no doubt be eating, drinking, watching fireworks and, generally, celebrating. Hopefully, you’ll take a moment or two to reflect on the remarkable adoption of the Declaration of Independence – a document that, across more than two wild centuries, continues to resonate with an importance that is almost inconceivable.

What you’re celebrating isn’t just liberty, it’s also the possibility of happiness, a state of being so important to Jefferson and company that they decided to directly reference it at the end of one of history’s most powerfully crafted sentences; “…Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

The Pursuit of Happiness – A Killer 6-Pack Sampler for $75

In the spirit of Jefferson’s America, we’ve decided to put together a six-pack of wines to carry us through this weekend of celebration and into a summer of all-out sloppy eat-and-drink happiness. You’ll get two bottles each of the following wines:

Domaine Gramonen Rose, ‘Pompon’, 2009

Holy cow – this is the best Rose I’ve ever had. I mean it. Domaine Gramonen is one of the hippest, cultiest wineries in France. You’ll know why as soon as you try this wine. Dry and concentrated – a beautiful salad of strawberry, raspberry and watermelon on the nose and a ripe, complex mouthful of fruit, acidity and minerality. Only 5 cases in the entire state – and we’ve got them all! Buy some before I drink it out from under you! $18/Bottle

Fondo Antico Grillo Parlante, Sicily 2008

This is the Gatorade of Italian whites – thirst quenching, completely refreshing, one sip and you’ll be dunking from the fowl line… ok that last part might not be true. This super-juicy little Grillo sports a beautiful pear, pink grapefruit and mineral profile and loves to be opened on super-hot summer days, at parties and picnics and with all sorts of food – especially grilled shellfish. $14.25/bottle

Les Traverses de Fontanes, Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Chug-a-lug! Les Traverses redefines easy-drinking! Pull the cork for your friends and watch euphoria spread as they bury their noses in a glass full of cherry pie and milk chocolate. This killer little cab with cozy right up to anything you’re grilling. $9.00/bottle

We will offer this sampler at the shop until supplies run out.
